lola of north beach is our dream come true. Before we met, we were both shopaholics. We each could spend all day going from store to store. That was fun for us. We loved retail so much that we both became assistant buyers at Macy’s where we met. We got married and even managed to have our reception at the Neiman Marcus Rotunda. We then spent a lot of time together just walking all around San Francisco stopping in any shop that looked interesting. We’d talk about opening a store together some day.
One day we found an open store front and decided to go for it. We didn’t know much about running a business back than except to fill it up with things we love and service customers better than any other stores we’ve been in.
That was September 2002 and every year since we have continued to shop everywhere to find the best things to put in our store. Inspiration comes from anywhere but most recently it’s been our three children. Starting a business in September 2002 was not easy and keeping it open through 2009 was just as challenging. But we’ve stuck with a formula of matching the best selection of merchandise inspired by our life in the Bay Area with friendly service.
